The COVID-19 pandemic has brought rapid and profound changes to our healthcare environment. In the field of community health nursing, there is now a stronger demand than ever for community health nurses to understand emerging infectious diseases, epidemiology, and infection control. Furthermore, in community health nursing education, as public health centers have become key sites for infectious disease screening, clinical practice opportunities in community health nursing have either disappeared or become significantly limited. As a result, non-face-to-face practical training courses have been introduced.
Additionally, at the national level, there is an increasing emphasis on educating students about population health management.
In response to these evolving healthcare challenges, the 22nd Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing will make the following efforts:
First, we will strive to clearly define the changing healthcare and educational environments while maintaining the core values and unique characteristics of community health nursing. Based on this, we will establish educational standards that reflect these changes and enable students to achieve learning outcomes in population health management.
Second, we will provide up-to-date information to help educators quickly understand and integrate the latest healthcare trends into student education. To facilitate this, we will enhance both the quantity and quality of academic conferences, faculty training programs, and policy discussions, ensuring that our members have access to the latest knowledge.
Third, to advance community health nursing practice, we will expand the academy’s scope, collaborate with various related organizations, and work together to achieve common goals. Through these efforts, we aim to further enhance the academic value of community health nursing.
